MOTHERF*CKING PRINCE!
This design comes with a story.
Details are fuzzy but that's not important. What's important is the gist of the story, a story I've told countless times because I really think it was pivotal in my life. I'll try to keep it short.
Back in May of 2011, my high school best friend and I were music-obsessed sophomores. We spent pretty much all our money on concert tickets and often went with her even more musically obsessed mom and neighbor/friend/sister, Jess. On a random weeknight after school, I got a text from her saying something along the lines of, "Get ready. We're going to see Prince tonight."
My friend and her mom picked me up and we headed to the concert. Jess was going to meet us there and was ubering. LA traffic did it's thing and Jess was running late. The show hadn't started yet but things were getting close, so she decided to ditch the uber and run, literally, to the Forum. If you're thinking, "who cares if you're late to a concert?" We care.
The three of us are in our seats, still waiting, and our whole section is getting excited. All of a sudden we see Jess come running down the aisle, stop, and scream, "IT'S MOTHERFUCKING PRINCE!" And every single person around us started cheering. This lit a fire so deep within me - I think about it, truly, all the time still. It made me realize the importance of really good music, friends that are family, concerts, and strangers even. On a broad scale, it reminds me to enjoy life and really love the things we love.
So I made it into a bumper sticker!
I knew the second that moment happened that I wanted to do something creative with the emotion. 15 years later and I'm starting with a small series of bumper stickers because why not. I'd love to put it on a shirt or hat or poster, but for now the design I have lends itself to be perfectly positioned on the back of a car. Please enjoy, and listen to some motherf*cking Prince today.
Maybe I will sell these on the Etsy shop...
