GRAPHICS VOL 1
Graphic. Design. Volume. ONE OF HOPEFULLY HUNDREDS!!!
Imagine the world without graphic design. It hurts to think about. I loved learning about revolutionary designers back in art school. Think Paula Scher, Sister Corita Kent, Saul Bass, Emory Douglas, Paul Rand, Milton Glaser, Susan Kare, etc. The list goes on. Their art is/was literally like a thesis paper or song tying back to the theme, getting the reader/viewer/listener in on their cleverness. But two-dimensionally. Love it. Mmm.
Anyhoo, the thing I didn't like about art school, or that I struggled with, was how subjective the "grading" was. One professor could give a project an A, while another could give the same project a B or C. But did I like the work? It made me realize early on that designing for yourself is most satisfying. Figuring out what you like is most fun. Of course, almost all corporate design jobs require you to tap into the brains of those behind the company you're working for, and this does work really well for some artists. But I digress. I like design where you can tell a person's uniqueness is coming out in 2D form. Like how you might instantly know Prince, John Mayer, or Santana are playing guitar purely based on style.
Below is a round-up of some designs I've seen on the internet that sparked my creative juices. Earth gem colors, fonts, organic lines, textures, layouts, a little retro flair, anything really. I just see it and I like it.
